Adib Kanafani is a Professor of the Graduate School in Civil and Environmental Engineering at UC Berkeley. Kanafani’s research focuses on transportation economics, transportation planning, transportation systems analysis, urban and regional planning, and air transportation. He was elected to membership in the National Academy of Engineering in 2002 and earned the Distinguished Engineering Alumni award from the American University of Beirut in 2004, the James Laurie Prize from the American Society of Civil Engineers in 2000, the Fannie and John Herz Foundation award in 1990, the Robert Horonjeff award from the American Society of Civil Engineers in 1990, and the Walter L. Huber Civil Engineering Research Prize from the American Society of Civil Engineers in 1982. He was inducted into the Academy of Distinguished Alumni of the CEE Department at UC Berkeley in 2012.
