Professor Abolhassan Astaneh participates on KALW, Public Radio's Panel on  "What is the state of America's infrastructure?"

On March 29, Rose Aquilar, host of "It's Your Call" on KALW San Francisco and KUSP in Santa Cruz,  had a conversation about the state of America's deteriorating infrastructure. The panel for this one-hour discussion and call-in radio program consisted of Abolhassan Astaneh-Asl and Gray Brechin, a historical geographer and a visiting scholar in the U.C. Berkeley Department of Geography.

In its 2009 Report Card, the American Society of Civil Engineers gave the state of bridges, sewers, roads, and transit a 'D' Grade and stated that the US must invest $2.2 trillion over five years to bring the nation's infrastructure to a good condition.

The panel discussed the dire situation, in particular as it relates to state of infrastructure in California, and responded to call in comments and questions from the listeners. Listen to the show.
