Steve Glaser's Wireless Sensors Used in Hydrology Forecasting

Featured Faculty: Steven D. Glaser

Steven Glaser, CEE faculty member and faculty director of the CITRIS Intelligent Water Infrastructure initiative, designed the wireless sensors that are being used by a team of UC Merced and UC Berkeley researchers to gather data that will greatly improve ecological measurement and hydrologic forecasting.

Steve originally thought that a network of sensors could be used for earthquake monitoring, but UC Merced professor of engineering Roger Bale's idea of using a sensor array to predict water availability from a watershed seemed like an exciting opportunity.
