Obayashi Professor at Stanford University and Academy 2014 inductee Stephen Monismith, (CE BS '76, MS '79, and PhD '83), was the honored speaker at the Fall 2016 CEE Distinguished Lecture.
The Fall CEE Distinguished Lecture has become one of the signature events in the academic year. Each year the CEE Department invites one of its most accomplished alumni to present the talk, and there is no shortage of illustrious Berkeley graduates in CEE.
Monismith's work centers on environmental and geophysical fluid dynamics, focused on understanding the water environment and flow in rivers, lakes, estuaries, and oceans, and particularly their ecological impacts. He has done significant work on the San Francisco Bay and Delta and on the environmental challenges in coral reefs.
