Professor Lisa Alvarez-Cohen has been selected as 2018 Association of Environmental Engineering and Science Professors (AEESP) Fellow.
AEESP is made up of professors in academic programs throughout the world who provide education in the sciences and technologies of environmental protection.
Professor Alvarez-Cohen was selected for her sustained and seminal contributions to the understanding of microbial transform of high risk xenobiotic chemicals and control of their management through development of the practice and science of remediation practices that protect the environment and public from harmful chemicals.
She has demonstrated the utmost commitment to the profession through an impeccable service record at the national level with multiple organizations and agencies, including service to AEESP.
Moreover, Professor Alvarez-Cohen has been an outstanding mentor to generations of students through her textbook, advising and research endeavors, as well as to other faculty in the environmental engineering and science community.
