We are delighted to announce that Joshua Apte will join the UC Berkeley faculty, holding a joint appointment with our Department and the School of Public Health (SPH). His start date is July 1, 2020.
Professor Apte is a leader in urban air quality and human health impacts, and will contribute to the Department's research and teaching in the areas of air quality, energy, and public health.
Apte has received numerous awards, including being named to the Grist 50, which identifies the “most exceptional people working for a sustainable world”. Other early career awards for Apte include the Walter A. Rosenblith New Investigator Award, the President’s Award for Global Learning (Univ. of Texas) and being named an Outstanding Young Investigator by Environmental Science & Technology.
