Pickering Awarded $1M from Chan Zuckerberg Biohub

Featured Faculty: Amy Pickering

Professor Amy Pickering is among 86 awardees, and 21 UC Berkeley faculty members, selected as new Chan Zuckerberg Biohub Investigators. The Chan Zuckerberg Biohub Investigator Program brings together faculty from Stanford University, UC San Francisco and UC Berkeley, funding innovative, visionary research to help solve critical challenges in biomedicine.

The CZ Biohub provides $1 million in unrestricted gift funds to each awardee, with the goal of building engaged, collaborative communities of Bay Area scientists to undertake creative and innovative research that will help solve the biggest challenges in biomedicine. The Pickering Lab uses tools from epidemiology, genomics, and engineering to understand enteric disease transmission pathways among households in low-income settings and to develop effective, equitable, and scalable interventions to interrupt them.

The 86 awardees were chosen from nearly 700 applicants through a competitive process judged by nationally recognized external reviewers and a blue-ribbon selection advisory committee.
