New Undergraduate Major: Environmental Engineering

The Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering is thrilled to announce the launch of its newest undergraduate major: Environmental Engineering (EnvE) — a dynamic program designed to prepare the next generation of leaders in climate solutions, sustainable infrastructure, and environmental protection.

Students in the EnvE major gain a rigorous foundation in engineering science while exploring the interdisciplinary challenges shaping our planet’s future. A sample four-year degree plan is now available, along with tailored pathways for both frosh-entry students and junior transfer students. The program also offers a rich selection of specialized coursework, including the EnvE technical elective list, project management/environmental policy electives, and an environmental humanities elective list that highlights the human dimensions of environmental change. All students will also complete the College of Engineering’s Humanities/Social Sciences (H/SS) requirement, ensuring a broad, well-rounded educational experience.

Students are strongly encouraged to meet with their faculty and staff advisors to explore the full range of opportunities within CEE — from research and fieldwork to policy engagement and capstone design.
