Congratulations to PhD student Timothy Carlson who has been named the winner of the 2026 Robert J. Melosh Medal and Prize, an international competition recognizing the best student paper in finite element analysis.
The competition evaluates submissions based on an extended abstract and a presentation at a symposium featuring the finalists. Carlson’s winning submission, titled “Magnetically Stabilized Solid-State Battery Interfaces: Electromagnetic-Chemical-Thermomechanical Theory and Simulation,” explores the theory and simulation of magnetically stabilized interfaces in solid-state batteries.
