Academy of Distinguished Alumni Create Fellowship

Featured Faculty: Alexandre M. Bayen

CEE's Academy of Distinguished Alumni has created a new graduate fellowship, the Academy of Distinguished Alumni Graduate Fellowship. Its first recipient will be incoming Civil Systems MS/PhD student, Paul Gabet. Gabet, an international student from École Polytechnique, Palaiseau, France, is  focused on applied mathematics. His research goal is to explore optimization and control with applications to real-world industrial projects. His advisor will be CEE Civil Systems Professor Alexandre Bayen.

In 2012, CEE leadership and faculty, aided by the generosity of its Advisory Council and the guidance of the College of Engineering, established the CEE Academy of Distinguished Alumni to honor the accomplishments of Berkeley alumni who have contributed greatly to societal well being and development, in the US and around the world.

The Academy inducted a charter class of 26 members. As Academy members are strong supporters of the CEE department and Berkeley's College of Engineering, the charter class chose as its first piece of business the creation of a new graduate fellowship within Civil and Environmental Engineering. The fellowship will benefit students now and in the years to come.
