Description

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of California, Irvine (UCI) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor, in Smart City Transportation Systems.

We seek an innovative scholar and colleague to join a new Departmental Smart Cities Initiative. Applicants are sought who can demonstrate accomplishment and outstanding research and teaching potential relating to the development of transformational mobility systems, as a foundation for Smart Cities of the future. We particularly seek applicants in the areas of Automated, Shared and Connected Mobility Systems, and Big Data and New Urban Mobility Analytics Paradigms, for the movement of people or goods. Applicants should have an interest in interdisciplinary transportation research and in building collaborations with colleagues across other disciplines in the Department, School, and campus, as well as in the public and private sectors. The successful applicant will benefit from the new UCI Transformational Mobility Living Laboratory (TML2), led by the Institute of Transportation Studies (ITS) at UCI. TML2 is a unique partnership between some of the nation’s most accomplished researchers in transportation at UCI (from fields such as engineering, computer science, economics, urban planning, law and public health), and visionary practitioners and stakeholders in the public and private sectors.
