Department of Defense civilian employees provide a wide variety of mission support functions. Civilian engineers are a critical component of the US Army.

Fort Bragg is the largest United States military installation in terms of personnel, one of the largest in terms of land area, and the most complex in terms of Mission. More flag officers (generals, admirals) are stationed at Fort Bragg than any location other than the Pentagon. It is home of the Airborne and Special Operations Forces. When the President dials 911, Fort Bragg answers the call. As such, Fort Bragg is tasked with a No Fail Mission.

Fort Bragg is centrally located in the beautiful state of North Carolina, which enjoys seasonably palatable weather year round and is surrounded by several colleges and universities. It is two hours from the beach and approximately five hours from the Appalachian Mountains. Pinehurst, Southern Pines, and Aberdeen are at the western boundary and Fayetteville is at the eastern boundary. Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill are approximately an hours drive to the north.

The Directorate of Public Works (DPW) is responsible for the facilities, infrastructure, and land that directly support the Mission of the Department of Defense and the men and women placed in harm's way defending the United States. Fort Bragg currently has 5900+ buildings comprising 52+ million square feet, 160+ million acres of land, 1400+ miles of roads, and 78000+ active duty military personnel, DOD civilians, and government contractors.

The successful applicant will work both independently and as part of a team to plan, design, construct, operate, manage, and maintain infrastructure such as airfields, bridges, dams, landfills, railroads, roads, towers, tunnels, sanitary sewer collection, stormwater management, wastewater treatment, water supply, and related systems.

Experience with planning, design, construction, and management of building systems is very beneficial and development of such skills during employment is highly encouraged and promoted. This provides additional breadth of capabilities to support the Army Mission as well as potential opportunity for advancement as a General Engineer.

Preferred Qualifications: The ideal candidate will hold Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Civil Engineering or closely related engineering field (such as Agricultural, Architectural, Construction, Environmental, Structural, or Water Resources, with at least one degree being Civil); have 2-8 years professional experience in site / civil infrastructure project planning, design, management, and construction in the southeastern US; be proficient with CAD and industry standard analysis/design and office productivity software applications (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, EPANET, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, STAAD, SWMM, other); be adept at report development and presentation; and hold active licensure as a Professional Engineer in NC.

Minimum Qualifications: Candidates shall hold a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or closely related engineering field and be enrolled in, or have completed, a Master's or second Bachelor's degree program in Civil Engineering or closely related engineering field (with at least one degree being Civil).
