The City of Stockton is seeking to fill a Plan Check Engineer position in the Community
Development Department. The Plan Check Engineer will be assigned to the Building and Life
Safety division and reports to the Deputy Director. The Building and Life Safety Division is
responsible for the enforcement of building codes, laws, ordinances, and regulations pertaining
to building construction and remodeling within the City of Stockton.
This is a lead class, with incumbents performing plan checking on more complex projects,
including major commercial and industrial developments, and directing work in assigned
specialty areas. Assignments are varied and allow for the exercise of considerable judgment and
independence in the performance of plan check engineering work.
Education/Experience:
Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course
work in architecture, civil or structural engineering or a closely related field and two (2) years of
experience in architectural, civil or structural design, or plans and specifications review. Must
possess a valid California registration as a Civil or Structural Engineer or be licensed as a
Professional Architect.
