The Board on Earth Sciences and Resources (BESR) provides a focal point at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine for activities related to Earth sciences and resources. BESR identifies opportunities for advancing basic research, understanding of Earth science information for policy decisions, and applications of Earth sciences to important societal issues. BESR and its standing committees serve as conveners for discussions and information exchange among scientists, engineers, and policy makers from government, industry, and academia.
