Construction Students Build Knowledge of Workplace Safety in OSHA Workshop

Body

A group of committed Cal Construction students recently completed a construction safety class led by Beavers Teaching Fellow Mark Shami. Following completion of the three-part workshop, students received their 10-hour OSHA cards.

The OSHA Construction Safety class provided 10 hours of training to students on the recognition, avoidance, abatement, and prevention of safety and health hazards in the workplace. It provided information regarding workers' rights, employer responsibilities, and how to file a complaint. Through this training, students also gained more knowledgeable about workplace hazards such as falls, struck-by, electrocution, excavation, scaffolding, concrete, power tools, and cranes.

Thank you to Professor Shami for teaching this important workshop, and well done to the Cal Construction students who successfully completed the training!
