GeoSystems Master students enrolled in CE 281 Engineering Geology took their first field trip of the semester last week! The class visited six different locations to learn more about geology and the pivotal role the sites played in shaping the engineering industry.

Students first traveled to Treasure Island, where they learned about the origins of the Loma Prieta Earthquake and how two seismograph stations a mile apart, on rock and soil, marked the first concrete evidence of the pivotal role site conditions play in amplifying ground shaking. To learn more about the various destinations they explored during their field trip, check out the GeoSystems news story here.
