We are delighted to congratulate our CEE baccalaureate, Master, and Ph.D. students who have successfully graduated this year! We eagerly anticipate witnessing your future accomplishments! Take a look at the Engineering commencement program and videos here, and check out photos from the ceremonies and receptions here.

The Hearst Greek Theatre hosted the baccalaureate and Master's degree ceremonies on May 17, while the Ph.D. degree awardees were hooded on May 18 at Zellerbach Hall.

During the Master's Commencement ceremony, Coby Santos Lim (MEng '23 CEE) delivered a speech about the impact of AI on our society. Lim emphasized the significance of responsible technology development by engineers and cited the recent presidential election in the Philippines as an example of how AI-driven misinformation and social media algorithm campaigns can manipulate systems and sway people.

"Technology reflects its creators - engineers like us. To create ethical technology that benefits humanity, we must first be ethical engineers," said Lim. "Engineering is not just about answering, programming, or solving like a computer. It's also about questioning, challenging, and reimagining - things AI could never do. The world needs and will always need ethical engineers - Berkeley Engineers."
