A dozen student members on the Cal Construction Competition Team, advised by CEE Professor Iris Tommelein, recently embarked on a field trip to the Anderson Dam Project in Morgan Hill, California. The plan includes building a 1,700-foot-long tunnel, up to 24 feet in diameter, on the left side of the dam, looking towards the reservoir. The new tunnel will increase Valley Water's ability to release water from the reservoir during an emergency by five-fold.

The event was hosted by the Beavers, known for their commitment to advancing construction education. The Beavers also provided transportation for the trip. Beavers lecturer Jeff Lessmann accompanied the students, adding valuable insights to the experience. We sincerely thank the Beavers and Flatiron Construction, for generously hosting the event and making this educational excursion possible. It was a memorable experience that contributed significantly to students' understanding of construction practices.
