In a spectacular showing at the 2025 Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) Regions 6 & 7 Student Competition held from February 5th to February 8th in Sparks, Nevada, the Cal Construction team, the largest student-led competition team in the UC Berkeley Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) Department, earned impressive accolades. This year, the team brought 13 sub-teams and over 100 members to the competition.
Under the expert guidance of CEE Professor Iris Tommelein (Faculty Advisor) and Zin Nyi Lin Htet (Silvester) (President), Cal Construction demonstrated exceptional leadership and collaboration, contributing to the team's success. Their hard work and dedication culminated in outstanding results at the competition, including the following:
- 3rd Place in Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) Track (Clark Construction): The team impressed the judges and placed 3rd in the highly competitive IPD Track, showcasing their strong project management and team collaboration skills.
- Outstanding Presentation in Sustainability Track (Skanska): The Berkeley team's commitment to sustainability earned them the "Outstanding Presentation" award, recognizing their innovative approach to environmentally conscious construction.
- Alternates Track Success (Rudolph & Sletten): The alternates track also proved to be a success, with Berkeley CEE students securing 1st and 3rd place finishes, further highlighting the depth of talent within the team.
