CEE student Coleman Thompson is a semi-finalist in the 2022 Berkeley Grad Slam Competition! The Slam, scheduled for April 11 from 3-5pm by livestream, showcases Berkeley graduate students as they present their research in a series of three-minute talks.

Coleman is a first-year MEng student studying Environmental Engineering, focusing on systems and data science. He is interested in renewable energy policy, project design, and optimization, and hopes to continue his work on the solar desalination project with Optony, Inc. after he graduates this spring. At the Slam, Coleman will present "No Salt, No Problem: Genetic Algorithms for Cost-Optimization of Solar Desalination Plants."

Watch and cheer on Coleman and all of the semi-finalists! Attendees vote on who wins the "People Choice" award, and the Berkeley first-place winner will advance to compete against other finalists at the UC-wide competition in May.

This event is open to the entire Berkeley community and will be live streamed on this page. Registration is encouraged but not required.
