CEE Professor Jack Moehle gave an on-stage interview about bridging the gap between academic research and practical engineering at the December Monthly Association Meeting for the Structural Engineers Association of Northern California (SEAONC) held on campus. The meeting was attended by several Berkeley CEE students and alumni, including alumnus Ashraf Habibullah, CEO of Computers & Structures, Inc (CSI). Check out the photos from CSI of the event here.

Moehle is one of the foremost experts in the field of concrete design and seismic engineering. Throughout his career, he has been instrumental in shaping modern practices in earthquake-resistant concrete structures and has played a pivotal role in developing industry standards through his work with ACI, PEER, and the Tall Buildings Initiative. The conversation was led and moderated by SEAONC Past President Maryann Phipps, creating an engaging dialogue on the evolution and future of concrete design.

SEAONC was founded in 1930 due to the need for improving business practices and relationships with architectural clients. Inadequate technical information exchange and contractual relations have increasingly challenged structural engineers. The bulk of SEAONC activity is generated by the volunteer efforts of members serving on the Association's standing and ad hoc committees. Committee meetings are held regularly.
