The Society of Women Engineers High School Engineering Program (HSEP) is a free 10-week initiative designed to introduce high school students to various engineering fields through guest speakers, club presentations, and a hands-on technical engineering group project. By providing early mentorship and exposure to engineering disciplines, the program aims to inspire more female and non-binary students to pursue STEM careers.
As part of their weekly sessions, Berkeley CEE staff member Shakhzod Takhirov hosted a lab tour of the Structures Lab on the second floor of Davis Hall on February 15 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM. The tour provided HSEP participants with a unique opportunity to explore the field of structural engineering, gain insights into cutting-edge research, and witness real-world engineering applications.
The Structures Lab tour was a key component of HSEP’s mission to encourage students to consider engineering careers by offering direct engagement with professionals and hands-on learning experiences. We are proud to support initiatives that promote diversity and inclusion in STEM and look forward to continuing our collaboration with SWE and HSEP. Download event photos here.
