Berkeley Water Center Hosts Water Day Event: Addressing Water Challenges of a Changing Climate

The Berkeley Water Center hosted an engaging Water Day event on Thursday, March 20th, at the Banatao Auditorium in Sutardja Dai Hall at UC Berkeley. Attendees enjoyed coffee, refreshments, and lunch throughout the day while participating in thought-provoking discussions and exploring innovative solutions to global water challenges.

The event featured renowned experts, including Dr. Kongjian Yu, who addressed the issue of flooding, and Dr. Menachem Elimelech, who shared insights on tackling water scarcity. Their presentations sparked valuable conversations on the urgent need for sustainable water management strategies.

Following the keynote lectures were dynamic lightning talks, including by CEE Professors Baoxia Mi and Mark Stacey, and a panel discussion featuring policymakers and industry leaders focused on California’s growing water risks. 

The panel discussed how research can shape effective strategies for addressing these challenges and ensuring a sustainable water future. The day concluded with a student poster session showcasing Berkeley CEE students' latest research and groundbreaking work on water-related issues.
