Jack Moehle Among ENR's Top 25 Newsmakers of 2011

Featured Faculty: Jack P. Moehle

Engineering News Record reviewed its stories in 2011 and honored 25 individuals for their outstanding accomplishments, whether this be an original idea, performing a special service, or going above and beyond in their day-to-day work.  Professor Jack Moehle was one of those to receive this prestigious recognition.

Moehle was selected for initiating a project that resulted in last year's report, "PEER Guidelines for Performance-based Seismic Design of Tall Buildings." The guide is hailed by practitioners as an important step towards the production of better-performing, more economical and more constructible tall buildings in seismic zones. It presents a recommended alternative to the prescriptive design procedures contained in codes.

Moehle calls the project his most important in more than 30 years of research.
