Description

The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Cornell University (Ithaca campus) seeks candidates for a tenure-track position in the area of sustainable subsurface energy systems. Preference will be given to candidates with core expertise in geomechanics and/or multiphase, geochemically active fluid flow through porous media; though other distinguished candidates, with more general expertise in solid and structural mechanics, are also encouraged to apply. Ideal candidates would focus their expertise on fundamental study supporting sustainable solutions for engineered subsurface energy applications, such as engineered geothermal systems, CO2 sequestration, and unconventional oil and gas operations, with an emphasis on understanding and managing the environmental impacts of the technologies. It is expected that the successful candidate will develop a distinguished research program focused on the intersection of energy technologies and fundamental understanding of subsurface processes. The successful applicant must hold a Ph.D. and will be expected to contribute to the undergraduate and graduate curricula within the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering.

Review of applications will begin December 15, 2018 and will continue until the position is filled. To apply: Application materials must be submitted on-line at https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/12179
