The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at Princeton University invites applications for a faculty position with a preferred start date of September 1, 2019. The search is open for an Assistant Professor appointment. A Ph.D. degree in an appropriate field is required.

The successful candidate will have a proven record of innovation and creativity in research addressing important and emerging topics in civil engineering. Interest areas include, but are not limited to, innovative structural systems, materials, mechanics, hazards and risk. We are particularly interested in research that addresses infrastructure challenges in cities and the urban environment; past, present and future. Candidates must have the ability and motivation to develop a vigorous independent research program and to participate in collaborative efforts of the faculty.

The department has strong undergraduate and graduate programs in both civil engineering and environmental engineering. Applicants should have interest in, and competence for, teaching foundational undergraduate and advanced graduate courses in CEE. The CEE department has strong ties with other departments, centers, and institutes at Princeton that focus on urban studies, architecture, art and archeology, energy, environment, and materials science; the successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop initiatives that establish and strengthen such connections.

The department is committed to fostering an academic environment that acknowledges and encourages diversity and differences. The successful candidate will pursue academic excellence in diverse, multicultural, and inclusive settings.
