CEE took 3rd in MidPac's Sustainable Solutions (Dog House) Challenge. The Dog House challenge was a brand new competition at MidPac so Dog House team members were especially proud to place 3rd in these challenging conditions.
The challenge was to design and construct a sustainable dog house to shelter a dog during the aftermath of a natural disaster.
To adhere to ASCE's Sustainability Roadmap, the team applied academic and industry knowledge to design/construct a doghouse that is sustainable in all facets, and is able to withstand post-disaster circumstances.
"It's great to be a part of something that works to address climate change and raises awareness about the dire conditions of our planet," said Jeannie Yang, project manager.
The team adds a shout out to XL Construction for its sponsorship and to CEE staff engineer, Llry Griffith, for facilitating all construction in the Davis Hall Structures Lab.
