Congratulations to our students and faculty who were recently recognized with prestigious ASCE awards!
CEE students Elisa Woodham and Junzhe Cao have been honored for their exceptional contributions to the field of civil engineering as part of the 2024 ASCE San Francisco Section Project Awards. Their achievements were celebrated at the ASCE San Francisco Section Annual Meeting on October 3, 2024, at the City Club in San Francisco.
Elisa Woodham received the Outstanding Civil Engineering Student Chapter Officer Award. A fourth-year undergraduate student, Elisa is the current President of the Cal American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). She specializes in Structural Engineering, focusing on sustainable building solutions and creative design. Elisa also serves as the Materials & Graphics Lead for the Cal Concrete Canoe team and as a Graphic Designer for Bike Builders of Berkeley. In addition, she is an active member of the Cal Seismic Design Team, the Cal Sustainable Solutions Design Team, and the UC Berkeley Chi Epsilon Chapter.
Junzhe Cao was awarded the Outstanding Civil Engineering Student Award. A member of the Class of 2024, Junzhe earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in just three years. Passionate about transportation engineering, he served as the Transportation Competition Team's DeCal Course Facilitator for ASCE during the 2023-2024 academic year. Since 2023, he has contributed to ASCE's Transportation & Development Institute (T&DI) through the Transportation in AI Committee and the Mobility-on-Demand as a Service (MoDaaS) Committee. In the past summer, he worked as a student assistant under Professor Raja Sengupta and his PhD Candidate Xuan Jiang on the Multi-Modal Transportation Extension of LPSim. Junzhe is currently an Excellence Scholarship & Opportunity Programme (ESOP) Scholar at ETH Zurich, pursuing a Master's degree in Spatial Development and Infrastructure Systems.
