Congratulations to CEE Professor Maria Laura Delle Monache for receiving the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Technical Committee on Cyber-Physical Systems (TCCPS) Mid-Career Award! Delle Monache was recognized "for contributions to modeling and control of CPS Transportation systems."
The award recognizes a mid-career researcher from academia or industry who demonstrates outstanding contributions to the field of cyber-physical systems (CPS) in their career development. The award selection committee emphasizes the significance and impacts of research work led by the nominee, and the award includes a plaque and a citation.
Delle Monache's research lies at the intersection of transportation engineering, mathematics, and control theory. Her focus is on understanding the implications of technology on transportation systems, particularly the effect that technology has on traffic, sustainability, and equity. She specifically looks at building mathematical models and control strategies that can help assess how new vehicular technology will impact traffic congestion, traffic emissions, and access to transport.
Delle Monache received her Ph.D. in applied mathematics from the University of Nice-Sophia Antipolis, France, in 2014. She is a member of the IEEE CSS Technical Committee on Smart Cities and the Standing Committee on Traffic Flow Theory and Characteristics of the Transportation Research Board (NASEM).
