Berkeley Indoor Air Quality Expertise featured in "Every Breath You Take"

Professor William Nazaroff, along with CEE alumni, Dr. Brett Singer (CE PhD '98) and Dr. Glenn Morrison (CE PhD '99), share insights about indoor air pollution in "Every Breath You Take" (Chemistry World, published by the UK Royal Society of Chemistry).

Today, in the developed world, people spend on average of 90% of their time in buildings or vehicles. And the health effects of the air we breathe indoors are just beginning to be understood.

CBS interviews Alex Bayen on Bay Area traffic

CEE Professor and Institute for Transportation Studies Director, Alexandre Bayen, is interviewed in a CBS KPIX segment on Bay Area Traffic.

“Demand has risen so much in California, that, in a sense, we have reached capacity. We can’t build more freeway lanes, we can’t build double-deckers, it’s just not possible,” said Bayen.

“Ultimately, one has to regulate traffic,” said Bayen. “The reason people use the road so much is because the road is free.”

Grad Student Daniel Rodriguez conducts post-earthquake investigations in Mexico City

CEE MS student Daniel Gaspar Rodriguez volunteered with the Pacific Earthquake Engineering Research Center to be part of the engineering response team in the post-earthquake field investigations of the Mexico City Earthquake (Sept.19 2017 | M=7.1).

The Berkeley team collaborated with engineering response teams from the Colegio de Ingenieros de Mexico, Degenkolb Engineers, and the Colombian Earthquake Engineering Research Network (CEER).
