This year, students from the department and the College of Environmental Design (CED) are participating in the DBIA 2022 National Student Design-Build Competition, which focuses on the Design-Build project delivery method. Team members include Yasamine Heidary, Adriana Lupercio, Rapha Felipe, Victoria Ng, and Gabriela Rivera. Professor Iris Tommelein serves as a Faculty Advisor to the team. For the competition, the team will submit a Request for Qualification to the Design-Build Institute of America, which will receive a further evaluation on a regional level by the end of September. Teams who qualify for the regional competition will move on to the second round and must submit a 'Request for Proposal.' If eligible, the team will receive an invitation to the annual DBIA Conference & Expo, which will take place in early November in Las Vegas.

The National Design-Build Student Competition allows young design-builders to build teamwork skills through a joint project presented to some of the industry's forefront professionals and gives them the chance to gain national recognition for their work. DBIA's student competition allows one to meet and impress design-build industry leaders one-on-one. The competition centers around a unique project to challenge student competitors every year. This year's project is a parking facility with education classrooms on a liberal arts college campus in the Midwest United States.

We look forward to seeing what our students accomplish!
