The Cal Construction team traveled to Sparks, NV to compete in the annual Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) student competition! The Design-Build Competition is sponsored by Swinerton Builders and provides students the opportunity to showcase their skills in the Design-Build process as a construction delivery method, which is becoming more popular in the industry. As part of Cal Construction, the DB team prepared during the Fall semester through weekly workshops, dry runs, and project presentations for the ASC' 24 competition that took place in early February. Professor Iris Tommelein served as a Faculty Advisor to the team.

This year's team members include Vicky Ng (Project Executive), Grisel Chavez (Principal Architect), Tat Srethbhakdi (Lead Designer), Osni Sandoval (Superintendent), Adam Kerr (Precon Manager), and Gaby Rivera (Design/Project Manager). The project presented in the RFP (Request for Proposal) for this year's competition was the Long Beach Airport Terminal Redevelopment and required a series of deliverables, including site logistics plans per phase, GMP (Guaranteed Maximum Price) estimate, detailed schedule with project considerations, floor plans and renders of the design. The DB Team worked diligently to produce said deliverables, compile them in a proposal, and present the proposed project to the judges.
