Are you interested in making places better for walking and biking? Are you curious about how a city decides where to put its bike lanes? How about new pedestrian crossings? If so, we’re looking for someone like you to spend time this summer learning about pedestrian and bicyclist planning and design while working on real projects as an Intern at Toole Design Group.

We’ll offer you:

Requirements:

• Undergraduate: Current enrollment as a third year or higher.

• Masters’: Current or upcoming enrollment in a related program field.

• Recent graduate: Degree in a related field or demonstrated passion for the field.

• Ability to quickly pick up new concepts, skills, and programs.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite

• Experience in an office environment a plus.

CEE Alumnus Farhang Ostadan receives ASCE's Stephen D. Bechtel, Jr. Energy Award

CEE alumnus Dr. Farhang Ostadan was selected by ASCE's Energy Division to receive the Stephen D. Bechtel, Jr. Energy Award for "significant contributions to practice, research and codification activities for advancing soil-structure-interaction analysis and seismic analysis in the energy industry, in particular the nuclear power industry."

Slav Hermanowicz appointed Outreach Associate Co-Director of the Tsinghua Berkeley Shenzhen Inst.

Professor Slav Hermanowicz has been appointed a new Associate Co-Director for Outreach of the Tsinghua Berkeley Shenzhen Institute (TBSI).

TBSI is a joint venture between two premier universities to conduct research and graduate education on both campuses.

It has now 67 faculty and over 350 graduate students in three centers:  Environmental Science & New Energy, Data Science & Information Technology, and Precision Medicine & Healthcare Center.

Professor Ashok Gadgil and his research team have set up a very efficient and cost-effective system called Electrochemical Arsenic Remediation (ECAR) for removing arsenic contamination from drinking water.
