Academy of Distinguished Alumni Announces 2013 Class

The CEE Academy of Distinguished Alumni announces the 2013 class as well as posthumously honors 2 deceased distinguished CEE alumni, Julia Morgan and Ben C. Gerwick, Jr., as In Memoriam inductees.

The 2013 class:

• Dr. Brenda Myers Bohlke, Senior Principal, Myers Bohlke Enterprise, LLC
• Dr. G. Wayne Clough, Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution
• Prof. J. Michael Duncan, University Distinguished Professor, Emeritus, Virginia Tech
• Prof. Gregory L. Fenves, Executive Vice President and Provost, The University of Texas at Austin
• Mr. Ashraf Habibullah, President & CEO, Computers & Structures, Inc.
• Mr. Jefferson Hilliard, Consulting Civil Engineer
• Dr. John H. Koon, President, John H. Koon & Associates and Professor of Practice, Georgia Tech
• Prof. George Tchobanoglous, Professor Emeritus, University of California, Davis

In Memoriam inductees:

• Julia Morgan, 1894 graduate of UC Berkeley's College of Civil Engineering, first woman architect licensed in California, and designer of more than 700 buildings in California, including Hearst Castle.
• Ben C. Gerwick, Jr., 1941 graduate of the Department of Civil Engineering, former Professor of CEE and President of Ben C. Berwick, Inc., member of the National Academy of Engineering, and recipient of the Berkeley Citation.

Inductees, friends and family, event sponsors, CEE faculty and student leaders will gather at a banquet ceremony on Thursday, Oct. 10 at the UC Berkeley Faculty Club. The event begins with a reception at 5:30pm followed by a dinner. See event program.

The CEE Academy of Distinguished Alumni (Academy) was established in 2012 to recognize the professional achievements and contributions of CEE alumni. Twenty-six charter members were inducted into the Academy on November 8, 2012.
