Nazaroff wins Haagen-Smit Prize for outstanding paper in Atmospheric Environment Journal

William Nazaroff, the Daniel Tellep Distinguished Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering, was awarded the 2017 Haagen-Smit Prize for his paper, Cleaning products and air fresheners: exposure to primary and secondary air pollutantspublished in Atmospheric Environment Journal (vol. 2004, 38, pps. 2841–2865).

The co-author on the paper was Professor Charles J. Weschler of Rutgers University.

Principle Power Inc is looking for a structural engineering intern (marine/hull structural engineering) to join its team and help design the next generation of WindFloats.

The intern will be part of PPI's team of structural engineers and will work on a specific topic. The topics available for the intern are provided in the attached material. 

The structural group splits its focus between current designs, for specific site conditions, and R&D to optimize the performance, fabrication and ultimately the cost of the WindFloats in future projects. PPI is executing many different projects around the world in different stages working toward to its first commercial project in the near future.

The candidate should have, at a minimum, the following qualifications:

Master of science candidate or PhD candidate in a relevant field of engineering (ocean engineering, naval architecture, mechanical engineering, civil/structural engineering, material science, etc.)

- Strong technical and data analysis skills

- Proficiency in programing languages

- Good communication and writing skills

Preferred skills include:

- Experience in using commercial FEA software such as ANSYS or equivalent

- Specific knowledge or relevant coursework experience for the topics

Job Title:

Statewide Travel Demand Modeler ($34,076.00 - $54,524.00 annually)

Summary:

The purpose of this position is to assist with the development and management of the statewide travel demand model for the State of New Mexico and coordinate with modeling efforts in metropolitan regions, perform socio-economic data collection and analysis, support freight and technical planning activities, and assist with evaluation of transportation planning projects. Ideal candidates should have advanced knowledge of travel demand modeling, statistics, and data analytical skills. Additionally, experience with transportation planning, federal regulations and professional presentations to diverse audiences are preferred. 

The selected individual will play a key role in the update to the statewide travel demand model, which is being updated and upgraded to better support regional and statewide planning and project evaluation efforts.
