As part of a strategic initiative in the area of Urban Engineering, Northeastern University seeks faculty candidates for tenured or tenure-track appointments at the assistant, associate, or full professor level in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering in the area of Automation in Civil and Environmental Engineering. Interested candidates may be considered for joint appointments with other departments commensurate with their areas of expertise. The department is in the midst of a significant, multi-year expansion in size and scope, including faculty, facilities, and programs within several disciplines and across disciplinary boundaries.

Advances in automation technologies, fueled by developments in sensors and actuators, IoT, robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), and information theory, have the potential to significantly impact the planning, design, operations, and control of Civil and Environmental Systems. We are looking for individuals with the passion to develop a research and educational program in this emerging area. Examples of application domains of interest include autonomous mobility systems and services; construction automation (e.g., robotic assembly, maintenance/repair of the built environment); robotic/swarm mapping for environmental site assessment; and AI-based process automation and context aware computing (e.g., for tasks undertaken in risky or hazardous environments). Applicants should have a broad background in fields such as sensors, robotics, intelligent control, data analytics, AI, and machine learning, applied to areas in the Civil and Environmental Engineering domain.

Successful candidates are expected to demonstrate a proven ability to develop and sustain a research program with emphasis on interdisciplinary and translational research, teach both undergraduate and graduate classes, and be active, recognized leaders in their discipline.

Berkeley Lab’s Human Resources Division has an opening for a Program Operations Analyst. Working under the direction of the HR Shared Services Business Process Manager, this position will provide ongoing program and project coordination support for several key initiatives.

What You Will Do:

• Research, interpret, analyze and synthesize requirements and data with minimal oversight.

• Draft, edit and proof a variety of project, program and process documentation, including process flow documents, training materials, presentations, reports and correspondence.

• Coordinate with Program Managers, Project Managers, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and stakeholders to collect and analyze information and resolve problems, issues and concerns.

• Monitor and coordinate scheduling and task performance under the direction of the project team.

• Support Change Management activities in coordination with the project team.

• Perform assessments and causal analysis by applying various analytical tools to investigate and analyze issues and risks; identify causes of issues; develop/recommend corrective actions; and evaluate implementation of corrective actions.

• Perform analysis of issues, risks, and program, process and metrics performance through the collection, monitoring, analysis and synthesis of performancerelated data for reports and presentations.

• Perform database management/administrator duties for various databases including entering and updating data, reconciling data, ensuring data quality, developing and running reports, following up with and/or providing information and solutions to stakeholders

Watergate Community Association is interested in partnering with the University to offer a select group of your engineering students the opportunity to observe and assist on upcoming construction projects at our property, Watergate Commons in Emeryville. We work with a number of different Architectural and Engineering groups throughout the region and have several ongoing projects that potentially offer a student a “real world” experience into how a project goes together, progresses and is “closed out”. Our property has several interesting engineering challenges that require calculations and documentation in the engineering field including; structures built on unstable ground, structures with post tension slabs, salt air impact on structural and architectural elements.

The person would be working with the Construction Manager and the Assistant Construction Manager in this position. They would act as an assistant to these two positions and be assigned work on specific projects. The duties would include some or all of the following;

·document work progress

·seek / provide information as to specifications and drawings

·review and note addendums and change order details

·coordinate/ follow the structural engineers

· draft owner related documents (RFI’s, RFQ’S ) relevant to the work

·job costing and financial analysis

This opportunity is potentially a part time paid position and the pay will be based on an agreed amount with the educator(s) supporting the endeavor. We are willing to have more than one student working with us at a time based on the number of upcoming projects.  Our current projects include;

·Sewer and Drainage replacement

·Post tension cable replacement

·Seismic preparedness / rehabilitation from minor quakes

·Soil and land degradation recovery
