Professor Lisa Alvarez-Cohen has been appointed Berkeley’s next Vice Provost for Academic Planning effective July 1, 2018.
Lisa is a world-class scholar with a long history of dedicated campus service.
She joined the campus faculty as an assistant professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and became a faculty scientist in the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab’s Earth and Environmental Sciences Area.
The Air Quality Specialist works under general supervision and is responsible for ensuring proper data collection and management, data analysis and reporting, project implementation, administration, and planning of air quality projects. The Specialist performs technical and skilled work and operates and maintains a variety of monitoring equipment in the completion of various air quality data collection and research projects. This is a full-time, permanent position based in the Swinomish Department of Environmental Protection, and is supervised by the Environmental Compliance Manager.

Professor Emeritus John Dracup gave a public talk on the impact of climate change on the water resources and hydrology of California at the American University of Armenia. He was invited by another CEE Professor Emeritus, Armen Der Kiureghian, who is now President of AUA.
The focus of Dracup's research has been in the areas of hydrology and water resource systems analysis.
In hydrology, he has conducted stochastic analysis of floods and droughts and the assessment of the impact of climate on hydrologic processes.
Over Memorial Day weekend, CEE's Steel Bridge Competition Team competed at the National Student Steel Bridge Competition held at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
A total of 42 teams from around the country and the world participated, representing the best of the teams that competed across 18 regions.
Geo-Logic Associates (GLA) is an employee-owned, multidisciplinary, geologic, geotechnical, hydrogeologic, civil, and environmental engineering consulting firm. GLA is currently seeking a full-time Staff Geotechnical Engineer to provide support for civil/site infrastructure, solid waste, mining, and environmental remediation projects.
