The American Concrete Institute (ACI) has named CEE Professor Jack P. Moehle Institute an honorary member at its annual spring convention in San Francisco. Moehle has been recognized for his outstanding achievements and service to the Institute, making him one of six individuals to be granted Honorary Membership, ACI’s highest honor.
On April 27, 2023, the Academy of Distinguished Alumni (ADA) at Berkeley CEE held a gala event to induct ten new members into its Class of 2022. This year's banquet celebrated the 11th anniversary of the ADA's founding and brought together alumni, faculty, students, and supporters from near and far.
On April 28, the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) hosted a banquet celebrating the end of the semester, and the department gave out undergraduate student awards to exemplary students recognizing their accomplishments in the field of Civil & Environmental Engineering through coursework and extra-curricular activities. It was a wonderful opportunity to recognize the hard work of our undergraduate students and the highlight of the event was celebrating everyone's achievements. We are thrilled to congratulate all the awardees on their well-deserved recognition!
Berkeley CEE's competition teams had a strong showing in the 2023 MidPac ASCE Student Symposium hosted this year by Cal State Chico from April 20 to April 22. MidPac is an annual student symposium where students from more than 16 universities participate in various civil engineering competitions addressing challenges in the field.

The New Zealand Society of Earthquake Engineering (NZSEE) has selected the paper "Liquefaction Assessment of Reclaimed Land at CentrePort, Wellington," co-authored by Ribu Dhakal, Misko Cubrinovski, CEE Professor Jonathan Bray, and Christopher de la Torre, to receive the 2023 Otto Glogau award.
A hearty congratulations to Phoebe Ho, a recipient of the 2023 National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship! The fellowship offers three years of support over five years, including an annual stipend of $37,000. The purpose of the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) is to ensure the quality, vitality, and diversity of the scientific and engineering workforce.
